NYC

Hmm. Things to do in NYC… let’s see, let’s see.  Well, there’s not much.

If you’re looking to stretch your trip to the big apple beyond our wedding, you don’t have to look far. In a city with such inexhaustible options, the best recommendation we can give is to be extremely selective. Overbooking your day is very common and can lead to a mad, confusing scramble to get from one thing to another. Also, very important to consider, although Manhattan is only about 2 miles wide and 13 miles long, you can not underestimate the amount of time it takes to get around this city. Allow for plenty of time.

Walking is often the best option (and a great way to see the city) but if you need public transportation, here are a couple of great resources: the MTA Subways Website and Subway Map, and HopStop, which is a great public transit trip planner.

Chelsea / Nearby The Tutu Center

There are some fantastic city attractions right in the area where we are getting married. If you’re staying at The Tutu Center or close by, you may be interested these options.

The High Line
This is NYC’s newest public park, built on an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets. It runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues, and has an entrance directly across from The Tutu Center. The views here give a really interesting perspective on the city and it can guide you into some great neighborhoods.

Chelsea Art Galleries
Chelsea boasts one of NYC’s most vibrant contemporary art scenes. Touring the galleries can be great fun and you can see a huge variety of diverse work. In addition to the link above, you can check art-chelsea for exhibitions, and there is also a Dia Art Foundation space with public programs.

Chelsea Market
Housed in the site of the old Nabisco plant, Chelsea Market is now home to many restaurants, bakeries, and gift shops. It’s a gourmet’s playground and very cool space.
